Sorrento, Mornington Peninsula — 3943
Interior Design & Render Direction
Open, airy spaces balanced with a quiet, lived-in warmth — a modern coastal retreat that feels expansive yet deeply comfortable.
The intent was to create a coastal home that resists the conventions of the holiday house — no nautical references, no beach-house clichés. Instead, a residence with genuine material depth: spaces that feel lived-in from the first day and better with each passing season.
Travertine, aged spotted gum, and hand-formed plaster resolve the palette. Large pivoting openings dissolve the boundary between interior and coastal garden. The kitchen anchors the plan as a social instrument — stone bench, open shelf, surfaces that accumulate life. Every material specified with coastal exposure in mind: salt air, bleaching sun, the way dusk moves through south-facing glass.
