Elwood, Port Phillip — 3184
Interior Design & Render Direction
Eight kilometres south-east of the CBD, Elwood’s layered streetscape — Edwardian cottages, Art Deco apartment blocks, interwar bungalows beneath London Plane canopies — set the terms for this project. The work was to respond, not impose.
The directive was to resolve a contemporary interior language within one of Elwood’s most historically layered postcodes — where the suburb’s Edwardian and interwar grain sets an expectation of warmth and material honesty. The space needed to feel genuinely embedded in its bayside context, not imported.
Interior layout and material curation were developed across render to reinforce the architecture’s ground-level warmth. Blackbutt joinery, warm-toned plaster, and arched thresholds were specified to read as quiet and enduring — a home that feels inhabited rather than staged. Every selection tested against the suburb’s particular quality of light.
